The Contender 28 Tournament is built for fishing. It has a different internal layout to the Contender 28 Sport which increases the onboard space at the expense of seating. The Contender 28 Tournament is offered as a step up from the Contender 25 Tournament and is perfectly suited to fishing the offshore waters of Australia and New Zealand. It is a versatile platform able to conquer lure fishing, trolling, or dropping baits on a reef.

Contender's own hand-laid fibreglass, 24.5 -degree deadrise hull is the reason for its sea going prowess. It uses a multi-directional fabric and foam cored stringer system with added foam flotation, making for a very safe and sound hull with excellent performance.

The centre console design delivers massive space at the bow and stern of the boat. Unlike the competition, Contender add a side coaming around the entire boat ensuring comfortable fishing all around. The console is large and can accommodate an array of electronics neatly hidden behind a clear console door. Down below is space for an optional portable head should you choose one.

The Contender 28 Tournament is offered with large forward anchor locker, multiple fish boxes, a 151-litre transom live well. Anglers chasing large offshore pelagics will enjoy the twin under deck twin 287 litre lined aft fish boxes, lockable console storage and integrated swim platforms.

Options include a tower over the console, overhead storage and your choice of bench seating and additional rod storage.

The Contender 28 Tournament is a high-performance boat with exceptional handling and on water manners. It has an overall length of 8.5 metres and a beam of 2.7 metres yet handles superbly with a nimble and sure-footed attitude. It can take onboard 680 litres of fuel and with the deep vee hull, handle conditions that would see other boats turn around.
