20 years after the success of the original Hanse 461, a new 461 is being created that is conscious of its heritage. It is built for owners who intend to go somewhere and stay a while. She carries 450 litres of water and 200 litres of fuel, 40 litre hot water, and an 85 litre holding tank for each bathroom, which tells you what the yard had in mind. Berret-Racoupeau's hull keeps her quick despite the displacement, and she is category A certified for twelve people.

The interior is where she separates herself. Three private cabins, two of them with en-suite heads and separate shower stalls, a full L-galley to port with a three-burner stove, oven and a 170 litre fridge, and a navigation console with a multifunction unit. There is even a wine cellar built into the joinery. Layout options let you swap the storage room for a third cabin depending on how you cruise.

She remains a two-handed yacht. Self-tacking jib, covered halyards and control lines led aft to both helms, a manual backstay tensioner for tuning the rig, and an illuminated compass at each wheel. The bathing platform folds out manually with a swim ladder, and a composite bowsprit carries the anchor and forestay fittings.
