On this FIRST 44 PERFORMANCE edition deck ergonomics were studied and developed with fully crewed regattas in mind. Equipment and systems are geared towards racing, among which should be mentioned the foam nonskid surfaces that replace the teak on the cockpit sole, six well-placed high spec Harken winches and a conventional mainsail traveller in the cockpit floor. As with all Beneteau yachts the cockpit is also well thought out and easy to move around in or relax in when in cruise mode. The cockpit connects at the same level to the sidewalks from the flat transom area, making moving forward on deck and back into the cockpit a breeze.

The First 44 offers a streamlined interior layout that is modern and luminous, with a blend of white lacquered surfaces, moulded woods and tasteful upholstery. With three cabins and two heads, the interior is replete with quality finishes and materials to create a refined atmosphere. In the saloon, the transverse table seats up to six people and faces the sofa and navigation station; its position in relation to the mast facilitates movement between the galley and the luxury owner's cabin, enhancing the feeling of space.
